Our friends at CanLII recently advised us of the following:
Publications Quebec, Quebec’s official printer, changed its legislation site at the end of June. In an exciting move for open publication of legal information in Canada, they have replaced their more limited public access site with their former paid site.
This means that Quebec joins several other jurisdictions in Canada in no longer charging for access to their legislative websites.
What this means for CanLII is that there is a short delay in updating Quebec legislation. The current site is up to date until June 14, 2016. Next week we will have a manually compiled consolidation up to date to July 11.
Thanks to the ever excellent work of our technology supplier Lexum, we have the software updates ready to deploy that will allow the content to be updated from the new site going forward. However, there will be a small editorial delay in having to manually review all possible changes that have been flagged in the meantime.
Quebec legislation on CanLII is expected to be up to date on an ongoing basis by the end of the month.
