On December 2, the Court of Appeal held a book launch to celebrate the successful completion of its newest practice resource, Civil Appeals in Saskatchewan: The Court of Appeal Act & Rules Annotated, written by the Honourable Stuart J. Cameron.
The book launch was a veritable who’s who of distinguished guests, including current and past members of the judiciary, representatives from the Law Foundation and Law Society of Saskatchewan, friends and family of the author, and support staff from the courts.
Chief Justice Robert Richards MC’d the afternoon event, highlighting the many hours former Court of Appeal judge Stuart Cameron dedicated to the writing and editing process, as well as the contributions of the many law librarians and support staff who helped in the creation of the content and final product.
The Honourable Calvin Tallis, another former judge of the Court of Appeal, was present, and Cameron honoured him for his significant contribution of original notes and annotations of the Rules of Court, which provided the backbone of the project from its inception.
Both the Executive Director of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, Mr. Thomas Schonhoffer, and the Vice Chair of the Law Foundation, Ms. Eileen Libby, spoke of the invaluable resource this title represents for practitioners in the province and praised the collaboration between the Court, the Law Foundation and the Law Society.
Coffee and punch were sipped and the delicious book-inspired cake was enjoyed by all present. Congratulations to Justice Cameron, and a sincere thank-you to everyone who made this a memorable afternoon.
