Ebooks and Online Loose-leafs Available through WestlawNext Canada (Tip of the Week)

You can now access WestlawNext’s impressive collection of ebooks and online loose-leafs right on your desktop.  With WestlawNext’s recent addition to the Members’ Section, the Law Society of Saskatchewan Library has substantially increased the number of ebooks and online loose-leafs available to every member of the Law Society.  The Law Society Library already provides approximately 150 ebooks through the Irwin Law e-Library and the Emond Working with the Law series.

These resources are accessed by selecting one of the subscription products from the right side of the WestlawNext homepage: Criminal Source, Family Source, or Labour Source.  Each subscription product features primary sources, e-books, online loose-leafs, and finding tools relevant to that area of the law.

For example, select Criminal Source and then scroll down the screen to the Texts and Annotations heading.  Criminal Source features a number of popular criminal law e-books and online loose-leafs such as Ewaschuk on Criminal Pleadings & Practice and Martin’s Annual Criminal Code.

You can reach an item’s table of contents by selecting its title.  For example, select Ewaschuk on Criminal Pleadings & Practice from the list of available items.

If you are not sure where a particular topic may be located within this online loose-leaf, use the search bar located at the top of the table of contents screen.  A convenient feature is the ability to easily search within the online loose-leaf by keyword.  Try typing automatism in the search box.

Once you have located the section or chapter you are interested in reading, it can be emailed, printed, or downloaded  by selecting this icon on the top right of the screen.

If you have any questions about WestlawNext, Ask a Law Society Librarian. We are pleased to provide legal research services to Saskatchewan members in person, on the telephone, or by email.
